Julian Heinen is a member of the Chamber of Architects in Berlin, Germany, license number 19656.

His winter semester 2025/26 design studio is titled “Liquid Infrastructures – Architecture of Bathing” and explores spatial, cultural, and ecological dimensions of water as an architectural and urban element. The studio’s approach emphasizes the cultural and social roles of architecture. It departs from the observation that our relationship to water is shaped by cultural rituals in which everyday routines intersect with site-specific conditions, giving rise to central places of public life.

These are spaces where intimacy and publicity meet, and architecture becomes a medium for negotiating proximity and distance. It supports the breaking of social isolation and enables new forms of encounter. Within this framework, students are invited to develop their own design positions and to translate them into the project of a bathhouse along the Münster Canal.

Selected academic works from teaching activities are available for review. This curated collection offers insights into the scope and depth of the studio’s educational contributions, illustrating both methodological approaches and design-oriented outcomes.
